Terroir

• Vineyards on the Karst plateau grow in red-brown leached soils, also known as jerina, jerovica, or terra rossa, which are of relict origin.
• These soils occur as larger enclaves around settlements, surrounded by shallow rendzina soils, and their profile follows an A-E-Bt-C horizon sequence.
