Terroir
Natural factors
- Soils predominantly derived from calcareous detritus with high stoniness and good drainage; valley floors also feature morenic deposits and fluvial gravels.
- Climate transitional between semi-continental and alpine, with average annual rainfall of 1,000 mm concentrated in spring and autumn.
- The ora del Garda, a wind off the lake, ensures continuous ventilation with controlled humidity, favouring the appassimento of the grapes without rapid dehydration.
Human factors
- Each hectare of vineyard requires more than 600 hours of labour; harvesting is exclusively manual and nearly the entire surface area is managed under integrated or organic pest management.
Product characteristics
- Whites are fresh and savoury; reds are ruby with orange reflections when aged, vinous or fruity; rosés are fresh with balanced acidity.
- Passiti: aromas of dried grapes, honey, and ripe fruit; full and harmonious on the palate, predominantly in the sweeter styles.
Terroir / wine link
- The ora del Garda, a daily natural ventilation from the lake, creates optimal conditions for the appassimento of the grapes, preventing excessive dehydration of the berries.
Facts drawn from the cahier's terroir-link section (Lien au terroir) by automatic interpretation — see the source.
