Natural factors
- Bedrock: Middle Triassic, Jurassic, and Lower Cretaceous mészkő and dolomit; csernozjom barna erdőtalaj has developed over these parent materials.
- Mixed sub-Mediterranean–continental climate; Mediterranean hatás dominates on south-facing slopes, with annual rainfall of ~700 mm and even seasonal distribution.
Product characteristics
- Red wines: full-bodied, rich in tannins and colour compounds, fruit-forward and spicy, harmonious; at premium level, notes of dried fruit and jam emerge.
- Super premium (100% Cabernet franc): grand in structure, complex, elegant, round, fruit-driven, with a long finish and barrel ageing.
Terroir / wine link
- The calcareous-löszös, agyagos soils and Mediterranean climate together yield full-bodied, fruit-forward and spicy red wines with a refined acid backbone.
